Steve Nash probably would have done the same thing too, with Spurs losing to Chelsea 2-1 in an FA Cup quarterfinal replay.
Let's hope there is some video of this. (And of course after a few hours, there is...but this is truly a dreadful version. Maybe by Tuesday morning.)
Like to see if Frankie Lampard can swing like Jermaine O'Neal.
Guess soccer fans are pretty passionate about their team. Who'da thunk?
Nice undersell by Tottenham boss Martin Jol, "I have not seen it. I can understand their frustration but they shouldn't do that."
Better yet, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho said, "A fan came on to make an aggression to Frank."
I like to make an aggression all the time....in my pants! Hi-oh!
(Both quotes cribbed from here.)
Joking aside, the bigger issue is what should be done. Obviously whenever you mix booze, anger and sports the results can get ugly. Some stadia around the world actually have moats and other barriers to protect the field from crazed fans. It'd be a shame if they had to take measures like that in England, because one of the coolest things is how close the fans are to the pitch in certain grounds.
When you factor in that Spurs blew a 3-1 lead in the first FA Cup quarterfinal encounter a week ago vs. Chelsea, you might understand his frustration. You have a team, a team that is hated by just about everyone in the world, dead to rights and you blow it.
In any event, Tottenham have banned the fan for life. Probably would have been worth it, had he landed a punch, eh? It's not like he can't attend a match at one of the roughly 450 grounds in London.
And in closing, watch this goal from Andriy Shevchenko. Maybe he's just not a p-whipped pretty boy.
