Stunning.
Jose Mourinho has left Chelsea.
At this point I don't even know what to say.
All I can imagine is that the English press is going to be chock full of great stuff in the next couple of days.
Love him, hate him, the self-appointed 'Special One' always made life interesting.
You can't knock his credentials, with a Champions League trophy and a pair of Premier League crowns. He'll certainly land on his feet, with speculation probably surrounding Barcelona first and foremost if Frank Rijkaard goes another trophy less season. The Portugal national team, after Euro 2008, also should be a hot topic.
The bigger question, where does it leave the players?
Will Frank Lampard finally bolt for Spain or Italy?
It's hard to imagine that successive draws were the reason for the hasty exit. (Miika Koppinen's volley right in John Terry's face didn't help.) Something else, obviously, was at foot. And frankly it's some surprise he returned last year.
One thing's for certain, it further throws the Blues season into chaos and opens a huge door for a "together" team like Everton to march into the Top Four.
Right now my head is spinning. We'll discuss this more Friday ahead of Premier League picks.
Until then, again, wow.

Perhaps a la Allen Iverson cutting an album under his alter ego Jewelz Mourinho has decided to focus on his music career. See his album cover artwork here - http://homedir-c.libsyn.com/podcasts/ce5fffe4000199cb68f040309c681e47/46f1d564/soccergossip/images/SpecialOne.jpg
I believe Eddie Vedder is on the album covering The Pretenders "Brass in Pocket", "I'M SPECIAL SO SPECIAL
I GOTTA HAVE SOME OF YOUR ATTENTION GIVE IT TO ME"
I'd love to see him manage...US Soccer.
That's definitely food for thought, Ace, yet I doubt Mourinho's arrogance would allow such a thing. Then again, he could escape the daily press houndings Stateside.
Sunil, pick up the phone!
I mean the real answer is Barca 2008, but how bout the throw Jurgen money at him and see what happens. You can't rather have Bradley?! Throw caution to the wind, do it. He'd get people into the USMNT by himself. Not happening, but let's explore the space.
Well that was the exact same two-word reaction I had.
Does Hiddink have an out clause in his contract with Russia?
We couldn't land Klinsy when he was on the hook. What demands would the Special One make that Gulati would never go for. Plus, I hate the prick. I don't even want to see him manage the Portugese side because for some inexplicable reason I've adopted them as my European team of second choice after my native Azzurri.
I agree with Ace - I'd love to see Mourinho bring extremely boring football to MLS. Oh wait - we've already got that. Zing!
Why not the Galaxy - SUPER Team that they are (tongue firmly planted in cheek)
Precious Roy -
I don't believe Hiddink would need an out clause in his Russia contract considering Abramovich is paying his salary ( at least that's the word on the street ).
