So yesterday at the office someone asked me if I got up to watch the US Women's team play Nigeria in the Women's World Cup. Everyone know I'm hardcore into soccer, yet I told them I didn't watch, instead saving my viewing for the Champions League later that afternoon.
Now granted, the Porto/Liverpool game was dull as dishwater aside for about 10 minutes in the first half. (Sorry, but Sami Hyypiä is wäshed up.)
Later, I did catch all the highlights and goals. And boy howdy, check out this incredible free kick by AC Milan's Andrea Pirlo vs. Benfica.
Basically, if there's anything close to that caliber of play during the Women's World Cup I'd possibly contemplate waking up at 4:55 a.m. to watch a game. Put it this way, Saturday morning what would you rather watch the US vs. England quarterfinal or Arsenal v. Derby an hour or two later? (This isn't a knock, just the facts. I swear.)
Of course, Andrea is a girls name, right?
