Consider yesterday's post a double-fault.
Not that I'm apologizing for my befuddlement about the media fascination over Wimbledon, but even before I read the mainly negative comments this morning I knew something was amiss. My original idea simply wasn't articulated properly and ended up coming off as petty whining. There's no need to be a hypocrite, bashing other sports at the expense of soccer. It's counter productive to everything. It was on par with the nefarious Brian Kuh standing over Steve Wiebe's shoulder at the Funspot Donkey Kong machine.
In short, while I still wonder why and if people in America truly care about tennis, choosing the day after the alleged 'best match of all-time' wasn't the wisest idea.
That said, here are a couple leftovers to chew on, to move past the issue.
* On the television front, if you're not watching 'The Venture Bros.' you're truly missing out on animated brilliance. I've advocated this show since it started and it continues to get even better. Sunday's episode featuring 'Dr. Quym' was borderline genius, then again, any time you have Hank feature touting his 'husky' build you've got me. Also, if you have an XBox and an HD television, download one of the Season Three episodes in HD and you'll be blown away. It's a shame the Cartoon Network/Adult Swim continuously begins the show three to five minutes early, screwing up my DVR each time.
* On the continued subject of television, let's hope HBO's 'Generation Kill' keeps up the Simon/Burns quality run. At the very least, it's a chance to see what Ziggy Sobotka's (James Ransome) been doing. Bottom line, it's a better choice than Michael Lee (Tristian Wilds) taking a part on the new '90210', which is so terrible I can't even manage to make a joke about it.
* Question, do people still use Dustbusters?
* Something strikes me as odd. Why are the top two NBA picks from the 2008 draft Derrick Rose and Michael Beasley inexplicably linked at the hip? Is there a rule the top two picks must always draw comparisons to Bird/Magic, etc.?
There's a solid chance the best player to emerge from the draft class will be somebody else. The hype continues to boggle my mind, especially on Beasley. Did anyone watch Kansas State this season drooling over the prospects of Beasley in the NBA? He'll put up numbers, but a transcendent talent? Doubtful. Either way, Rose and Beasley have great agents with Bristol on speed dial. Can't fault them for wanting to get paid, but making a big deal out of the summer league?
* Another question that's probably above my pay grade, but here goes. Call me crazy, but does it seem weird that 'Guitar Hero: Aerosmith' exists? After all, this is a band that was popular 20-30 years ago, then lived off Alicia Silverstone's then-sassiness to survive the 1990s. Now the band and its music is in a video game targeted, I'd guess, at kids 10-20. Now I love music rhythm games as much as the next guy, maybe more, in fact I'll download the new Rush 'Rock Band' tracks as soon as I hit publish, but a whole game devoted to Aerosmith? Really? Hasn't anyone with a car radio heard enough of their pedestrian rock over the last couple decades to get their fill? In closing, 'Love in an Elevator' might be one of the worst songs that continues to get airplay, ever.
* To quote Will Ferrell as Bob Goulet, "Do you like good music? I do." If the answer is affirmative, then head over to this site and download the newest work from Girl Talk, 'Feed the Animals'. The best part, you can pay nothing and get roughly 55 minutes of pure mash-up genius. All I can say is that Tag Team + Big Country = pure gold, Jerry. Honestly, you've got nothing to lose.
In closing, a video to hype the upcoming season of 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' directed by Kevin Arnold, err, Fred Savage. It's good, not great. I'd have preferred something by Chemical Toilet or the Electric Dream Machine.

I'll play Guitar Hero the moment they make "Day Man" a playable track.
Until then, I'll play my actual guitar. It's real.
The Venture Brothers are straight up BOOSH! It is three way tie for me between VB's, Squidbillies and Frisky Dingo. Nice work on the Footie front and on the AS front.
(Actually liked most of the other episodes better this year so far though. Buddy System and The Doctor is Sin were classics)
I terrified my 7-month-old daughter with a Dustbuster just today, actually.
My dog thinks my dustbuster is evil incarnate.
Otherwise, it gathers more dust than it actually busts.
Good call on Frisky Dingo...while Season 2 was hit or miss, Season 1 may be the funniest animated show I've ever seen. Unbelievable.
Also, good spot on Girl Talk...Gillis is a cool motherfucker.
